DVD HOLDER

Beauty is a universal concept that stretches across time and culture to unite all of humanity in a sense of what is good and desirable. Because it is built into the hard wired coding of our minds, people of all nationalities and cultures can often agree on what constitutes beauty. For instance, the beauty of a sunset is generally universal and can be appreciated by people even if they come from completely different places.

Style is a subset of beauty. It is beauty in a very particular way. When you talk about a style of dress or a style of home what you are describing is a kind of unified movement, a collection of agreed upon choices, based on a subset of beauty that is shared amongst a group of people, or sometimes a single person.

The idea of style is relatively subtle, and is compounded by the fact that single articles can mean different things in different styles. A bandana means something different when worn in different parts of the country, and the color red means war and hate in the west, while in the east it stands for tranquility and peace.

Style is based largely on symbolism. Items, colors, and patterns all means something. It is like a secret language which exists just beneath the surface of the earth. This meaning colors everything in life with a kind of depth that makes the world exponentially more complex.

Understanding style is about learning to speak the languages that different people use. This is not about learning French or Mandarin, or even Latin; whatever your language you need to learn to speak to the groups and subcultures that speak that same language. The more you understand how people feel about symbols, and communicate ideas about the world, the more you will come to understand their own sense of style.

Understanding someone else's sense of style is like reading the most beautiful part of their mind. The artistic spark that causes them to speak, act, write, draw, or communicate ideas is the source of all of the untold beauty they can create. When you look at their clothes, or view their home decorating style, you are getting an inside look at how the artist within them works. This can give you some powerful cues as to who they really are as a person.

Style is a subtle subset of beauty. It follows a movement which is based on the way groups of people view the world, and communicate their feelings. By understanding the style of others, you will be getting a secret look inside of their minds, which will give you an intimate look at how they view art and beauty.
